Seasonal Field Technician Assistant

Temporary field work supporting utility inspections across the Midwest — with a possible path to full-time

Position Overview

Watthour Solutions is seeking reliable and professional individuals to join our team as Seasonal Field Technician Assistants. In this role, you will perform field inspections and support utility-related work at customer and member sites for electric utilities and cooperatives. This is hands-on, outdoor work that requires strong communication skills, attention to safety, and a professional demeanor when interacting with utility personnel and the public.

This is a temporary seasonal position that may lead to a full-time position for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections at utility customer and member sites
  • Support metering and utility fieldwork alongside experienced technicians
  • Interact professionally and courteously with utility staff and customers
  • Follow all safety protocols and properly use required PPE and uniforms
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as needed

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
  • Must live within reasonable commuting distance of Mount Vernon, Missouri
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Physically able to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat
  • Willing to wear required PPE and company uniforms at all times
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor

Preferred

  • Basic knowledge of electricity or utility operations
  • Previous field, construction, or utility experience

Schedule & Work Conditions

Work Location: All work is performed in the field at utility sites.

Temporary / Seasonal: This is a temporary seasonal position. Work typically slows significantly after Christmas, with an expected layoff period of several months. Strong performance may lead to a full-time position.

Schedule: Typical workweek is 3–5 days, weekdays only (Monday–Friday), with approximately 10-hour shifts. No weekend work is expected under normal circumstances.

Weather: Work is performed outdoors and is dependent on weather conditions.

Travel: Overnight travel is required for many projects. The company pays lodging. A meal per diem is provided for overnight stays (meals only).

Customer Interaction: This role involves significant interaction with utility personnel and customers. Professional communication and courtesy are required at all times.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: Competitive hourly compensation based on experience. Specific rate will be discussed during the interview process.
