Seasonal Field Technician Assistant

Support utility field inspections and metering work across the Midwest

Position Overview

Watthour Solutions is seeking reliable and professional individuals to join our team as Seasonal Field Technician Assistants. In this role, you will perform field inspections and support utility-related work at customer and member sites for electric utilities and cooperatives. This is hands-on, outdoor work that requires strong communication skills, attention to safety, and a professional demeanor when interacting with utility personnel and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections at utility customer and member sites
  • Support metering and utility fieldwork alongside experienced technicians
  • Interact professionally and courteously with utility staff and customers
  • Follow all safety protocols and properly use required PPE and uniforms
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as needed

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
  • Must live within reasonable commuting distance of Mount Vernon, Missouri
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Physically able to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat
  • Willing to wear required PPE and company uniforms at all times
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor

Preferred

  • Basic knowledge of electricity or utility operations
  • Previous field, construction, or utility experience

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Work Location: All work is performed in the field at utility sites.
  • Seasonal Nature: This is a seasonal position. Work typically slows significantly after Christmas, with an expected layoff period of several months.
  • Schedule: Typical workweek is 3–4 days with approximately 10-hour shifts. A 5-day week is possible depending on project needs. No weekend work is expected under normal circumstances.
  • Weather: Work is performed outdoors and is dependent on weather conditions.
  • Travel: Overnight travel is required for many projects.
  • Customer Interaction: This role involves significant interaction with utility personnel and customers. Professional communication and courtesy are required at all times.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: Competitive hourly compensation based on experience. Specific rate will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Vacation & Holiday Pay: Eligible for vacation and holiday pay.
  • Holidays: No work on most federal holidays.
  • Health Insurance: Not provided at this time.
